This unit is your introduction to the area of study. In year 12, the area of study counts for 40% of your HSC. This unit is a practice run, a chance to understand how the area of study works and how to maximise your marks in its three sections.
We will be looking at the concept of journeys. When you write about the area of study, you will refer to
a) your prescribed text
b) related texts
Our prescribed text is The Secret River by Kate Grenville. We will be reading it ana analysing what it has to say about the concept of journey.
We will look at a related text in class, how to analyse it and how to work it into your essay. However, for assessment tasks, you will be required to locate, analyse and write about your own related text.
